Immediately following the death of Morgan Patten in 2019, civilian and military authorities in Onslow County, NC determined it was an “unfortunate DWI fatality”, ignoring vast and compelling evidence that much more nefarious actions were in place. For more than five years Steve and Renee Patten have been investigating Morgan’s homicide independently, with help from attorneys, private investigators, forensic pathologists, and recently, DNA and digital forensic laboratories. The cost of this effort has exceeded $130,000 to date, and the estimates for current vital procedures is nearly $35,000. The Patten’s are getting closer to solving this puzzle, and the DNA and digital forensic opportunities offer great promise in determining the real fate of their daughter, and great hope for justice.
